Call for Research Topic Submissions - Deadline 9 June 2026

New Uzbekistan University invites staff and doctoral students to submit research topic proposals for the NewUU Research Projects Programme 2026.

The programme supports research projects that strengthen the University’s capacity to deliver high-quality applied and innovative research addressing scientific, technological, and societal challenges relevant to Uzbekistan.

Research topics with clear potential for practical application and relevance to industry or public-sector stakeholders are particularly encouraged.

Applicants are encouraged to consult relevant industry or public-sector organizations when preparing their topic submissions. Where available, a letter of support confirming the relevance of the proposed research may be included.

This call represents Stage 1 of a two-stage application process. Topics validated for relevance to industry or public-sector partners will be invited to submit a full proposal in Stage 2.

Eligible Applicants: Staff and Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD/doctoral students (only eligible for Small Research Projects) enrolled at New Uzbekistan University or the Institute of Advanced Studies.

Grant types: Medium and Small Research Projects

Maximum annual funding: Medium – up to 4,999 × BCA; Small – up to 1,040 × BCA

Application Process

The call follows a two-stage process.

Stage 1 – Research Topic Submission

Stage 1 serves as an administrative step to validate the relevance of research topics to industry or public-sector stakeholders.

Applicants submit a short description of a research topic outlining the proposed idea, expected results, and potential applications.

Early-stage research ideas are welcome; the purpose of Stage 1 is to identify promising topics rather than fully developed project proposals.

Submitted topics will undergo relevance validation with industry or public-sector stakeholders.

Stage 2 – Full Proposal Submission

Applicants whose topics are validated will be invited to submit a full research proposal through the University’s electronic platform.

A separate Stage 2 call document with full proposal instructions will be published when applicants are invited to submit full proposals.

Stage 1 Submission Requirements

 

Applicants will be asked to provide the following information through the submission form:

  • Grant type
  • Field of science
  • Research topic title
  • Project abstract (max. 250 words)
  • Expected results and potential industry application (max. 150 words)
  • Primary sector of application
  • Relevant Uzbek public or private organizations for whom the results may be relevant

Applicants may also submit an optional letter of support from a relevant public or private organization (universities and research institutes excluded) confirming the relevance of the proposed research topic.

Support letters must be submitted to m.jensen@newuu.uz latest by 3 July 2026.
