New Uzbekistan University recently hosted a landmark international educational initiative — a three-week IT Boot Camp organized by students from DGIST (Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology), one of South Korea’s leading universities.

The intensive program brought together 72 young participants from various regions of Uzbekistan, selected for their interest and potential in the fields of technology and innovation. Over the course of three weeks, participants took part in hands-on sessions covering programming, graphic design, and artificial intelligence, gaining practical skills under the guidance of 12 student mentors from DGIST.

This marked the first IT boot camp organized in collaboration with a South Korean university at New Uzbekistan University, symbolizing a significant step forward in international academic cooperation and youth development in Uzbekistan.

The boot camp sessions were conducted entirely in English and focused on real-world problem-solving, collaborative teamwork, and interactive learning. Participants worked on tech projects, developed creative designs, and explored the basics of machine learning and AI with mentorship from DGIST students who brought both expertise and enthusiasm.

Cultural Exchange Through Korean Culture Day

In addition to the educational component, the program also served as a cultural bridge between Uzbekistan and South Korea. As part of the boot camp, New Uzbekistan University hosted a special Korean Culture Day, which featured:

A Korean history and culture quiz, where students competed in teams to test their knowledge;
An exhibition of traditional Korean dishes, giving participants a taste of Korea’s rich culinary heritage;
Cultural presentations and interactive games that introduced students to Korean customs, music, and language.

These activities enriched the experience of the boot camp, creating a unique platform for cross-cultural understanding and friendship.
