A meeting was held with Denise Waddingham, the British Council's Country Director in Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, university professors Dilshoda Rabbimova and Gulbahor Mamadievalar exchanged ideas in detail about the seminars and programs organized by the British Council for higher education institutions.
Additionally, the issue of initiating collaboration between the "Humanities and Natural Sciences" school at New Uzbekistan University and some of the UK's most prestigious universities was also discussed.
Furthermore, the implementation of student exchange within the scope of the "Turing Scheme" program, announced by the British government, was also deliberated.
How well do the educational programs at "New Uzbekistan" University cater to international students?
At "New Uzbekistan" University, working groups have been established for each field of study to assess the adaptability of their educational programs to international students. Professors from TUM - Technical University of Munich are also part of these working groups.
A recent meeting of the working group for Chemical and Materials Engineering was held, which included Kai Olaf Hinrichsen, a professor at the Technical University of Munich for over 20 years and a member of several international accreditation organizations.
Drawing on his vast experience, Hinrichsen provided recommendations for tailoring sciences and educational programs to suit our country's chemical industry.
It is worth noting that the Technical University of Munich ranks 30th in the world according to Times Higher Education.
The final stage of the physics olympiad "Buyuk allomalar izidan", worth 1 billion Uzbekistani sum, has been held. The main goal of the olympiad was to provide an opportunity for talented youth who are studying in various regions of our country to demonstrate their knowledge and skills.
The olympiad was also aimed at increasing the sense of pride in the youth towards their ancestors and promoting the development of science and knowledge in the world. To achieve this, various interesting lectures and trainings were organized related to the activities of our great scientists and state figures such as Mirzo Ulugbek, Abu Rayhan Beruni, Al-Farabi, Abu Ali ibn Sina, and Al-Khwarizmi.
The olympiad was open to all graduating students of general education schools, academic lyceums, and vocational colleges. A total of 1,182 participants registered, but only 255 made it to the final stage.
At the final stage, each participant was required to submit a written work consisting of 5 tasks. The participant who achieved the highest score was declared the absolute winner, while the top 10 participants with the highest scores were recognized as "medalists". The absolute winner was awarded a cash prize of 20 million Uzbek sum, a one-year 100% scholarship to study at the New Uzbekistan University (38 million sum), as well as other certificates and medals. The 10 medalists were awarded a cash prize of 2 million som, a one-year 100% scholarship to study at the New Uzbekistan University (38 million sum), as well as other certificates and medals.
Currently, a delegation headed by the Minister of Pre-school and School Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ms Hilola Umarova, with the representatives of New Uzbekistan University is continuing their visit to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Today, a meeting has been held between the Vice-President of Khalifa University of Science and Technology, Dr. Ahmad al Shoibi, and the Minister Ms Hilola Umarova accompanied by the representatives of New Uzbekistan University.
During the meeting, both universities made presentations about their educational institutions and discussed cooperation in the following areas:
Conducting joint scientific research Co-organizing international academic conferences Implementing exchange programs
At the end of the meeting, representatives of New Uzbekistan University extended their invitation to the delegation from Khalifa University of Science and Technology to the International Conference scheduled to be held at NUU on July 3-6, 2023.
It is worth noting that Khalifa University of Science and Technology ranks 181st in the world (QS World University Ranking).
On February 18 of this year, the "AI REWIND 2022" - Festival of Artificial Intelligence was organized at "New Uzbekistan" University.
The festival was organized together with the "Machine Learning" community consisting of students and young people, and works were organized in 4 directions.
Direction 1 – organization of seminar-training sessions.
Within the framework of the direction, potential specialists of the field who achieved great achievements using artificial intelligence were attracted, and seminar-training sessions were organized for young people. Including:
- General director of "Alif Tech" company (annual turnover of 96 million dollars) N. Lafizov;
- S., analyst of the investment company "IMAN invest" (2 million dollars). Marufkhojaev;
- One of the founders of "Billz" company (0.5 million dollars) V. Zakharyan;
- Founder of the "Uzbek Voice" project (a platform for providing free manuals on artificial intelligence) B. Khasanov and others (a detailed list is attached);
These seminar-training sessions covered 1,342 young people, 1,117 of them visited the University and 225 participated through online broadcasting.
The 2nd direction is to unite young people interested in artificial intelligence into one community, implement collective projects and create favorable conditions for further development of their knowledge.
For information: professions based on artificial intelligence are based on a complete team, in which there is no possibility for the staff to act alone.
To date, 600 young people have joined the "Machine Learning" community, and by the end of the event, more than 400 more young people have joined them, and the number of members has increased to over 1,000 (this number is planned to reach 1,500).
The 3rd direction is to attract influential companies that widely use artificial intelligence and create a platform for them to communicate with young people.
Exhibition of 10 companies in this direction, such as "Alif Tech", "Uzum Market", "Uzum Fintech", "Billz", "Beeline", "Ucell", "Uzinfocom", "Bellissimo Pizza", "IMAN invest" at the University were organized and various competitions for young people were held by them.
As part of this, companies had the opportunity to attract potential young people to work and implement innovative projects with their participation.
Direction 4 is aimed at school students, especially graduates, to help them choose a future profession.
Announcements about the festival were widely publicized among general education schools in cooperation with the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, and 402 schoolchildren attended the event. The festival was organized on the basis of sponsorship, in which sponsorship funds were provided by "Alif Tech" and "Bellissimo Pizza" companies.
As you know, in August of last year, representatives of New Uzbekistan University visited Pusan National University of South Korea and agreed to establish cooperation relations in the future. Today, as a practical result of this agreement, a memorandum of cooperation was signed with visiting representatives from Pusan National University. Cooperation will be carried out in the following areas:
Faculty and administrative staff exchange;
Student exchange;
Joint research activities;
Exchange of academic materials; and
Other academic exchanges to which both universities agree.
At the end of the meeting, the parties emphasized that this cooperation will serve both universities in training students with scientific potential, and agreed to further develop relations in the future.
An awarding ceremony was held for the participants of the "Winter School" project organized by the most active students and professors of New Uzbekistan University for high-school students of our republic. At the same time, the opening ceremony of the Career Center took place at the university, and Alisher Rustamov, a professional expert with work experience in several international companies, participated in this ceremony.
Career Center was created to help students with the employment as well as future job trainings.
Dean of the Jean Monnet Faculty of Law, Economics & Management, Boris Bernabé, and Professor Julien Boudon, represented Paris-Saclay University. During the meeting, representatives of both sides made presentations about their Universities, discussed ways of potential cooperation and agreed to collaborate in the future.
