Professor from Freie Universität Berlin Delivers Insightful Lecture on East European Migration and U.S. Political Economy

New Uzbekistan University recently hosted an engaging lecture on “East European Big Bangs and Political Economy of the United States” by Dr. Theocharis Grigoriadis, a distinguished professor from the Freie Universität Berlin, ranked 104th in the world.

The lecture, which drew students, faculty, and researchers, focused on the mass migration from Eastern Europe to the United States between 1850 and 1940 and its profound influence on American political and cultural life. Dr. Grigoriadis provided a compelling analysis of how this migration shaped U.S. elections and political structures, offering historical insights with modern-day relevance.

Dr. Grigoriadis, a Yale University graduate with a PhD from the University of California, is a recognized expert in political economy, economic history, and comparative economic systems. He has authored numerous books and research articles in these fields.

Attendees engaged in a lively discussion, posing questions about migration patterns, voting behaviors, and the broader economic implications of historical migration waves. Swiss Experience in Business and Innovation Development at New Uzbekistan University

On January 29, 2025, New Uzbekistan University hosted an insightful lecture by Alexander Schärer, Head of Diplomatic Affairs at the Embassy of Switzerland in Uzbekistan, titled “Swiss Business Success and Innovation Drivers.”

In his lecture, Mr. Schärer highlighted Switzerland’s remarkable achievements in business and innovation, underscoring its consistent global leadership. In 2024, Switzerland topped three prestigious international rankings: the World Intellectual Property Organization’s Global Innovation Index for the 14th consecutive year, Roland Berger’s Innovation Indicator for excellence in advanced manufacturing and biotechnology, and the US News & World Report’s Best Countries Ranking for business openness, quality of life, and political stability.

Mr. Schärer explored the key drivers behind this success, including world-class infrastructure, highly skilled talent, and a thriving innovation ecosystem. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia and industry, continuous investment in research, and fostering creativity through education.

Students and faculty at New Uzbekistan University actively engaged with Mr. Schärer, gaining valuable insights and discussing how Uzbekistan can leverage similar strategies for its own economic and innovative growth.

Alexander Schärer, with his extensive diplomatic experience and background in international affairs from the University of St. Gallen, brought unique perspectives from his work with the United Nations and the World Economic Forum.
