Course Description
The Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Project Management at New Uzbekistan University is a one-year, thesis-based program designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to manage complex projects across industries. The program provides a strong foundation in strategic planning, problem-solving, project budgeting, and resource management, ensuring graduates can successfully execute projects within scope, time, and financial constraints.
The curriculum consists of 36 ECTS of core courses, 12 ECTS of electives, and a 32 ECTS thesis. Courses cover key topics such as project planning, execution, risk management, cost control, leadership, communication, and stakeholder management. Delivered in-person in a block format, the program is designed to accommodate working professionals. Students engage with quantitative techniques, case studies, and simulations, gaining practical experience in decision-making and project execution.
As a specialized degree, the M.Sc. in Project Management provides a comprehensive approach to project management concepts, making it an essential graduate program for individuals who aim to excel in project-oriented roles, such as project coordinator, assistant project manager, junior project analyst, or team lead. Program
Two to three years after completing the program, graduates will:

Upon successful completion of M.Sc. in Industrial Management, the graduating students will attain:

Graduation Requirements
The conferment of the Master of Science in Industrial Management degree is subject to the successful fulfillment of all academic, administrative, and financial requirements specified by New Uzbekistan University. The table below outlines the specific criteria that students must satisfy to be eligible for graduation:
- Completion of Academic Credits
- Fulfillment of the 70 ECTS credit requirement, comprising mandatory and elective courses as outlined in the program curriculum.
- Master’s Thesis
- Submission and successful defense of a Master’s thesis demonstrating advanced, independent research and application of knowledge in project management.
- Compliance with Policies and Regulations
- Full compliance with the academic, administrative, and ethical standards of New Uzbekistan University. Non-compliance may result in disqualification.
- Financial Obligations
- Settlement of all tuition fees, semester fees, and associated costs to New Uzbekistan University and Hochschule Mittweida, as applicable.
Course Structure
The M.Sc. in Project Management program requires students to complete 70 ECTS in two semesters (fall and spring). The 70 ECTS are divided into 30 ECTS of program core, 10 ECTS of electives and 30 ECTS of master thesis (dissertation).

Contact hours
The courses are delivered in a block format, where each block includes multiple courses and spans 8-9 weeks, including an assessment week. Each course covers 32 direct contact hours (4 hours per week), delivered through lectures, seminars, tutorials, or laboratory classes. Weekly timetabled hours may vary depending on the course schedule and format. Teaching is delivered entirely in person on campus through lectures, seminars, tutorials, and other scheduled activities. In later semesters, timetabled sessions may decrease as the focus shifts toward independent learning, particularly for research projects and thesis work.
Independent learning
In addition to timetabled contact hours, students are expected to engage in independent learning and assessment activities. This typically involves 15 to 16 hours per week and includes tasks such as individual research, reading journal articles and books, working on projects, preparing coursework assignments and presentations, and revising for exams. Independent learning is a critical component of the program, intended to improve understanding and develop critical analytical and research skills.
Assessment breakdown
Assessment methods vary across courses, ensuring a balanced evaluation of student learning outcomes. While subject to revisions by the Department of Industrial Management, a typical course assessment consists of:
- • 20% Instructor-Defined Assessment – May include case studies, research papers, group projects, or practical assignments tailored to course objectives.
- • 80% Final Assessment – Evaluates comprehensive understanding through a written exam, final project, or integrative assessment.
Entry requirements
- • Bachelor degree from an accredited institution (minimum 180 ECTS credits) or a higher academic qualification (degree course format should be full-time or part-time)
English language requirements
Proficiency in the English language as evidenced by one of the below:
- • IELTS 6.0 or higher
- • TOEFL iBT 60 or higher
Note: We accept only the TOEFL iBT taken at approved test centers. We do not accept the TOEFL iBT Home Edition.
- • CEFR B2
Applicants who have completed their bachelor’s degree entirely in English do not need to provide any additional proof of language proficiency.
