This talk will offer a gentle yet insightful introduction to the evolving field of financial machine learning. We will begin by exploring foundational concepts and taxonomy of machine learning. From there, we will delve into what makes finance unique and into challenges in financial applications of ML.

About the speaker: Kumushoy is an Assistant Professor in Finance at Durham University. Her research interests include systemic risk, financial contagion, networks and quant finance. She has been a visiting academic at the Bank of England.

Kumushoy has earned her PhD and MSc from Imperial College London, and BSc from WIUT.
