M.Sc. in Computational Data Science

The Double Degree Master of Science in Computational Data Science (M.Sc. CODS) is a flagship graduate program jointly delivered by Khalifa University (UAE) and New Uzbekistan University (Uzbekistan). The M.S. in Computational Data Science is a one-year, thesis-based master’s program which requires students to complete total of 60 ECTS. The 60 ECTS are divided into 24 ECTS of program core, 18 ECTS of electives and 18 ECTS of master thesis.The Fall semester is conducted in person at Khalifa University, while the Spring semester is conducted in person at New Uzbekistan University.

Master’s Thesis

Students conduct original research under joint supervision from both universities.

Graduation Requirements

Requirement	Description
Completion of Academic Credits	Fulfillment of the 60 ECTS credit requirement, comprising mandatory and elective courses and Master thesis as outlined in the program curriculum.
Residency Requirements	Completion of fall semester at Khalifa University and spring semester at New Uzbekistan University.
Compliance with Policies and Regulations	Pass all required coursework, successful thesis defense, full compliance with the academic, administrative, and ethical standards of New Uzbekistan University and Khalifa University.
Financial Obligations	Settlement of all tuition fees, semester fees, and associated costs to New Uzbekistan University.

Entry requirements

Educational Background

Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent (e.g. an upper second-class honors in a UK-style degree, from a reputable accredited institution).

Minimum English Proficiency

IELTS 6.5 or;
TOEFL iBT 91 (Only TOEFL iBT tests taken at approved test centers are accepted. The TOEFL iBT Home Edition is not accepted.)

English Proficiency Exemption

A graduate from an English-medium institution who can provide evidence of acquiring a minimum IELTS score of 6.0, or a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 79, at the time of admission to the completed Bachelor’s degree program.

Referee Recommendations

A minimum of two referee recommendations (recommendation letters should be sent to admission@newuu.uz)

Statement of Purpose

Statement of purpose (500-1,000 words).

The Statement of Purpose should clearly outline the applicant’s motivations for wishing to pursue graduate studies at Khalifa University and New Uzbekistan University, as well as any prior achievements that will demonstrate promise for success in their degree. It is recommended that prospective students include the following information in their Statement of Purpose:

● An introduction about yourself, your interests and your motivations.
● The reasons for applying to your chosen graduate program.
● What you hope to gain during your studies and any specific issues you wish to address.
● Your professional aspirations and how you think this qualification will help you achieve them.
● How your previous studies and work experience, where applicable, relate to the program you have chosen.
● Other matters you consider important and relevant to your application.

Admission Interview

The admission interview will be conducted by Khalifa University.

New Uzbekistan University covers the following cost for all eligible candidates:

● Tuition Fee at Khalifa University: USD 47,000

● Accommodation at Khalifa University: USD 500–800 per month

The candidate should cover the following costs:

● Tuition Fee (Spring Semester at NewUU): 55 million UZS

Additional Costs During the Fall Semester at Khalifa University

● Average Living Costs in Abu Dhabi: USD 500–1,000 per month
