UZCARD

UZCARD

Uzcard is the national payment system of Uzbekistan, launched in 2004 to support electronic transactions across the country. It operates under the supervision of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan but functions as an independent organization working with many local banks. Uzcard issues debit and credit cards that are widely used for ATM withdrawals, POS payments, and online shopping within Uzbekistan. Most Uzcard transactions are carried out in the national currency, Uzbek soums (UZS). In recent years, Uzcard has partnered with international systems like UnionPay and Mastercard to enable limited use abroad. It faces competition from Humo, a newer payment system, but still holds the largest share of the market. Uzcard is deeply integrated into everyday life, from paying at supermarkets to settling utility bills and even supporting mobile QR payments.
