About Idrock

Idrock is a next-generation AI cluster at New Uzbekistan University, built to support cutting-edge research and real-world AI deployment.
The cluster is powered by 16× NVIDIA H200 GPUs and 12× DGX Spark systems, enabling large-scale training and experimentation.

Idrock operates an AI Lab focused on developing foundational machine learning models across:
• Natural language processing
• Speech technologies
• Computer vision

In parallel, the cluster actively collaborates with industry partners and university stakeholders to solve high-impact applied AI problems, bridging research and production.

Overview

We are seeking a highly capable leader to head the AI Cluster Coordination Department (Idrock).
This role is responsible for driving the technical direction, execution, and scaling of the AI cluster and its associated lab.

The position reports directly to university leadership and plays a central role in shaping the university’s AI strategy, research output, and industry engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all activities across the AI Cluster, including the AI Lab
• Define and execute the technical and operational roadmap for Idrock
• Manage interdisciplinary teams spanning research, engineering, and applied AI
• Oversee development of foundational models (LLMs, speech, vision) and applied AI solutions
• Ensure delivery of high-impact AI projects within clear timelines and measurable outcomes
• Build and scale infrastructure, talent, and research capabilities within the AI Lab
• Establish and maintain partnerships with industry and academic collaborators
• Promote best practices in ML engineering, experimentation, and deployment
• Represent Idrock in strategic discussions with university leadership and external partners

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (Bachelor’s only is unlikely to be sufficient for this level)
• 3+ years of experience in AI/ML, with at least 1–2 years in leadership or project management roles
• Strong hands-on background in AI development (e.
g.
, deep learning, LLMs, speech, or vision systems)
• Experience working with modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Proven track record of delivering end-to-end AI projects (research → production)
• Experience working with large-scale compute infrastructure (GPUs, distributed training, or clusters)
• Strong leadership, execution, and organizational skills
• Ability to operate in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment and drive results
• Proficiency in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading research labs, AI teams, or innovation units
• Familiarity with large-scale model training (e.

, LLMs or multimodal systems)
• Experience in academic–industry collaboration environments
• Background in building AI platforms, MLOps systems, or research infrastructure
• Publications, open-source contributions, or a strong technical portfolio
